On Christmas Day, up to 8,000 children in Australia open an Angel Tree gift from their parent who is in prison. It is a wonderful reminder to the child that they are not forgotten.
Bayside Community Care partners with Prison Fellowship with their Angel Tree program, an international program which aims to strengthen relationships between incarcerated parents and their children.
How does Angel Tree work? Inmates nominate their child to receive a special Christmas gift. Supporters donate personalised gifts to the child (the parent suggests gift ideas), which are then posted to the child's home for Christmas.
The cost of the gift is approximately $35 + postage.
Bayside Community Care is seeking people to donate gifts.
We also have a wrapping gifts day on Wednesday, 4 December, from 9.30 am -1 pm and are seeking volunteers. All volunteers must have a current Working With Children's Check.
Please express your interest before 24 October 2024.
